Reflective Narrative:
The student who has successfully completed this MLO, has a wide range of technological skills that can help them be efficient in their school work. As part of the fulfillment of this MLO, the student has learned to consider how well they organize their work, where they obtain their sources from, and methods of improving their oral and writing skills.
Courses which supported my learning and advancement in MLO 6 are SPAN 300 - Pre-Capstone Spanish Majors, WLC 300 - World Language and Cultures Major Pro-Semniar, and WLC 400 - World Language and Cultures Major Capstone. SPAN 300 helped students learn which topics we are most interested in, which sources can back up our research, what our paper should look like at the end of our work, and how we could expand upon this information as we worked towards completion of our Capstone project. For this course I believe my most substantial assignment is where my partner and I wrote about ideas we had for our final project, “Capstone Ideas.” Additionally, WLC 300 helped set up the basics for our Capstone project. In this course we began the creation of our ePortfolio, we spoke about which courses support our academic careers, and we also worked to write a narrative about each course we took that supported our major. This is where we mainly thought about what brought us into our major, and reflected on it through our “Personal Statement.” Finally, WLC 400 is where we take everything from those previous Capstone support courses and create our research paper and present our findings in front of a large audience. WLC 400 is essentially the summary of my time spent here at CSUMB as a Spanish Language & Hispanic Cultures major student, “E-Portfolio.” Each of these works best represents what I learned in each of these courses, and how they helped me get to where I am today. These works and experiences illustrate me meeting the outcomes for MLO 6 in expanding my understanding of certain subjects, how I should research those topics, and how my own perception can lead to something greater.
Any challenges I may face when developing this area in the future may be the lack of being involved in another research paper. In order to remedy this issue, in the future I may involve myself in a profession that can make sure any skills I learned in these courses can stay up to date.
