This course is taught in Spanish.
Reflective Narrative:
SPAN 495 taught by Dr. Christine Fernandez helps complete the objectives of MLO 5 in under said the personal experiences of a Hispanic individuals throughout certain aspects of their lives. In the case of SPAN 495 we get to choose a topic we believe has cultural value, and we pursue these topics in order to understand them from a fresh perspective. From someone who has interest with the topics at hand or has some experience in them. In order to get a more in depth understanding of our chosen topic we have to interview two uncles who fit into these categories. Though these topics also have to relate to texts that each student personally reviewed that they believed helped them figure out whether they can pursue the information and make something bigger out of it or choose a separate idea. These interviews help us understand certain scenarios of personal views on unique acts that have occurred in the lives of the other individuals. To reflect on what occurred then and how those actions have impacted them today. This course also helps diminish the act of traveling to a far away Spanish-speaking country, or being a participant of a local Hispanic community that would take several years to accomplish. This change in the traditional path of completing the MLO feels as if it has taken a more careful approach of handling the situation. To feel a more personal connection between the student and the subject at hand, since the student is the one who gets to decide what they want to learn rather than the professor. Personal experiences with this course has led me to thoughts and ideas I had not thought of before, and I believe I will be able to get a very valuable insight about certain types of people.
